Concept first, practice later. When introducing a new topic (e.g., addition), children do NO worksheet โ the teacher only explains the concept through games, objects, and visual aids. This builds a solid foundation without pressure. Once the child understands, subsequent lessons introduce the workbook pages at a comfortable pace (2โ3 pages per lesson).
Teacher-friendly: Every lesson follows the same simple structure. No prep stress โ just follow the plan, play the game, and guide the child.
โฑ๏ธ 40-Minute Lesson Structure
Every lesson follows this consistent rhythm. Children thrive on routine โ once they know the flow, they settle in quickly.
๐ For Concept-Only lessons (no worksheet): The 17-minute worksheet slot becomes extra game time or hands-on activity with physical objects (counters, blocks, flashcards). Children leave the lesson having understood the concept โ no pencil required.
๐ฎ Interactive Game: Ten-Sticks & Ones Match โ screen shows ten-sticks and single unit cubes exactly like the workbook (e.g., 3 ten-sticks + 1 cube). Child reads "30 + 1 = ?" and picks the answer. Immediate โ/โ feedback.
๐ก Tip: Click the button to play the same game the child will do in the 5-minute game slot. Works on computer, tablet, or interactive whiteboard.
๐ก Teacher Tip: Point to each ten-stick and say "10" together. Then count the ones. This is the same visual as the book, so the child can connect game โ book โ worksheet later.

๐ก General Teaching Tips for 5-Year-Olds
Keep it fun. If the child is bored or frustrated, switch to a game or song. You can always come back to the worksheet later.
Use physical objects. Blocks, counters, toys, fingers โ anything tangible. Abstract numbers mean nothing without concrete understanding.
Praise effort, not just correctness. "Great counting!" "I love how you tried!" "You're working so hard!"
Don't force worksheets. If a concept lesson says "no worksheet," respect that. The foundation is understanding, not filling in blanks.
Repeat, repeat, repeat. Children this age learn through repetition. The daily routine, the songs, the counting โ all build neural pathways.
Follow the child's pace. If 3 pages is too much, do 1. If they want more, give more. Flexibility beats rigidity.
Use the interactive games BEFORE teaching. The game acts as a "hook" โ it introduces the concept in a fun way. Then teaching reinforces it.
Connect math to real life. "We have 3 apples. If I eat 1, how many left?" Real-world math sticks.
